Easter Week Festivities

I'm not really sure why this post took me forever to complete but I thought "better late than never!" So here's a little look into our Easter weekend.

I love Easter time and the traditions that come with the holidays. Easter morning went the same way for years with my family. Go to church in our new outfits, come home and raid our Easter baskets (ok, maybe we did a little but of this before church), then wait patiently for my Dad to make ham & eggs for us, while Ben Hur or some other really old movie was playing in the background. Then after the mayhem was over... Nap... While golf was on in the background.
Ah, the memories.

This year we celebrated Easter at our home with my Dad. It was so nice to have him here to be with Shannon and take tons of pictures/videos. We started the morning with Shannon having to search for her hidden Easter basket (Lee's family tradition.) Halfway down the stairs, she spotted it and ran right towards it. There was absolutely no hesitation... she immediately ripped the stuff out of it. Hilarious!

Even though this wasn't Shannon's first Easter, this was her first time egg hunting. She wasn't really sure what was going on in the beginning but then got the hang of it. She had so much fun finding the eggs and of course, popping each one open to see what was inside. About half-way through she got the hang of putting it in her basket each time.

 Look at those baby blues!

It was such a great weekend, despite the exhaustion that comes with any holiday. I was so glad that my Dad was able to be here and share this special time with all of us. I love this picture (below) Shannon was playing with my Dad's famous foo man choo mustache.

Easter Basket Goodies

I'm so proud of myself for finishing Shannon's Easter basket so soon. This is so not like me to finish things this early. I have been picking up items here and there for about a month now. The moment I saw the back corner of Target being taken over by Easter eggs and every pastel colored candy you can think of, I started to freak out a little as I noticed that my toddler wouldn't be able to have any of it.
Holiday shopping for a toddler is like trying to shop for a guy!

So this is what I put together for the baby girl. I found her Easter basket at home goods for $10! (I painted the wicker part an ivory color) This is where I also picked up the books and adorable cups. I found the crayons, bath time books and amazing sparkly eggs (which have socks and chapstick in them). The jelly shoes (oh the childhood memories!) are from Old Navy.

I'm still on the lookout for some fun little items to put in the Easter eggs for the big Easter hunt on Easter Sunday. It's going to be a busy day of church, breakfast and lots of traditions, but I can't wait to share our day of fun!
